In addition to the normal services offered by an accountant I can help by:
Answering questions from, what is my National Insurance Number, to how can I claim the foreign tax credit on my sales to China? Having a flat structure means I am on hand for all your questions should the need arise.
Tax Planning. You might be thinking of undertaking a new business venture or expanding a current one. I can help you structure the business to ensure direct and indirect taxes are as low as possible. In the longer term we might need to consider your exit strategy from the business and how to do this tax efficiently.
Making your Accounts Simpler. I am amazed at the amount of small business owners who spend hours entering transactions into accounting software and still fail to come up with any meaningful figures. I like to work closely with my clients to understand how the business operates and how we can work together to make the accounting function, less time consuming and more meaningful to the business owner.
Free Meetings and Telephone Calls. I like to meet with my clients several times throughout the year to discuss various issues that arise from time to time. One meeting that has proved very popular is a year end tax planning meeting with clients prior to their year end to discuss finances. I find this the best time to take action to limit tax bills, maximize allowances and discuss issues for the coming year.
CHARGES
Yes surprisingly I do have to charge to meet my costs for petrol, food and accommodation (among other things). I often get asked “How much will it cost me?” I answer with "It depends on what you want me to do!"
My charges can be based on:
The amount of tax you are likely to save
An hourly rate
A fixed fee
In all cases you have the right to say “that’s too much!” or “come on I think you can raise it a bit more!” as has happened. But either way we keep talking until an agreement is reached.
My firm is not registered for VAT making the fees very advantageous for any non VAT registered clients having to pay non recoverable VAT on accountants fees. There, that’s me being an accountant again!
